Converged and Hyperconverged Systems

Converged and hyperconverged systems offer compute, networking, and storage an easy-to-deploy and scalable form. Having a single point of contact when difficulties arise is a big positive to these systems.

When evaluating converged and hyperconverged systems, consider the manufacturers’ reputations for the various components. It is important to note that these are new deployments – just because you have some of the pieces of a converged or hyperconverged solution already in your data center doesn’t mean that you can connect your existing hardware and infrastructure and make it into a manufacturer-approved solution. An initial deployment has to be of a minimum size to ensure redundancy; afterwards, scalability of compute, storage etc. is more flexible.

Hyperconverged Systems: Hyper or just Hype?

Hyperconverged systems combine compute, storage, networking and a management platform into what manufacturers say is one scalable, quick-to-deploy, easy-to-manage unit for data centers of all sizes. Are new hyperconverged systems really here to stay, or is there a lot of ‘hype’ in with the ‘hyper’?
